OMSW 2018: "Legacies of Leadership"

The Ontario Medical Students' Weekend (OMSW) 2018
will be held on November 2nd and 3rd in Ottawa,
hosted by the University of Ottawa

Ontario Medical Students’ Weekend (OMSW) is an annual event gathering medical students from all Ontario medical schools to learn about a variety of topics related to medicine. Students will assemble at the University of Ottawa to partake in the largest annual Ontario academic conference for medical delegates. OMSW’s goal is to educate beyond curriculum based objectives, enrich students with a comprehensive learning experience and allow for student networking.

This year's theme, "Doctors of Diversity", approaches medicine from both a diverse field of knowledge and topics that make up medicine and also the diversity of roles and people within medicine. Our goal is to show all incoming medical students, all that medicine has to offer, with the hope of piquing their interests in some of these topics.

Important Registration Information


Ticket Pricing

  • Price without Hotel: $55 (open to all students)
  • Price with Hotel: $130 (open to all students)

Note: The ticket prices include a 3.5% credit card processing fee, and the event is not-for-profit.


Step 1: Pre-Registration (starting September 25th)

NOTE: Pre-registration will be open before ticket sales. During this timeframe you will be able to create an account, but tickets will not yet be available for purchase.

NOTE: You must use your medical school / university email when creating an account.

By clicking on the create an account button, you will be able to enter all of your information (including dietary restrictions, speaker/workshop preferences, and credit card information). You will not be charged anything until you purchase a ticket at a later date. You can come back any time before 11:59 pm on October 6th to edit your account information and workshop/speaker preferences.

You will receive an email confirmation after creating your account with a link to log in and set your password. You must log in within 24 hrs of creating your account or else the link will expire and you will have to request a new link using the "Request New Password" option on the sidebar. If you do not receive this email within an hour, please check your Junk or Spam folder, and if it is not there please contact us.


Step 2: Registration & Payment (starting September 30th)

NOTE: Ticket purchase is transferable but non-refundable.

Quotas for each school/campus are determined by class sizes. On September 30th, all tickets will be released and registration will open at a different time for each school.

At this time, because you have already entered all of the necessary information, all you need to do is log in at your school's registration time, go to the "Ticket" tab under "My Account", and click on "Buy Ticket". At this time, your credit card will be charged and you will receive a confirmation message. Because we have limited spots for each school/campus, registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note that if you haven't already pre-resgistered, you may still do so at this time and purchase a ticket if any remain.


Step 3 (optional): Preference Changes & Ticket Transfer (by October 6th)

NOTE: You will not be able to purchase another ticket after you have transferred your ticket. Tickets are limited to one purchase per account.

After purchasing the ticket, you can log into your account any time before 11:59 pm on October 6th to edit your account information and preferences through the "Edit" tab under "My Account". You can also transfer your ticket to another Ontario medical student before this deadline through the "Ticket" tab under "My Account". You can even transfer your ticket to a student who did not pre-register. Simply ask them to make an account and you can then transfer the ticket to them before the deadline. Money exchanges for ticket transfers are the responsibility of the individual students.

After this deadline, no new accounts can be made, and no changes in preferences or ticket transfer can be performed. You will have to email us to change any personal account information.
